Senator Boxer Visits Solazyme Biofuel Facility in South San Francisco

Founded in 2003, Solazyme is pioneering algae-based diesel and jet fuels and has received several federal grants and contracts to help the U.S. Navy reach its goal of operating 50 percent of its fleet on renewable fuels by 2020. 


Senator Boxer visits Solazyme’s food laboratory and is briefed on applications for their algae-based flour and cooking oil.
Solazyme employees highlight an assortment of their algae-based food products.
After touring Solazyme’s facility, Senator Boxer spoke to dozens of Solazyme employees about her efforts to make California the hub of the clean energy economy, and to create jobs for Californians.
Senator Boxer thanks Solazyme employees for their innovative work creating the new clean energy technologies of the 21st century.
