Boxer Statement on President Obama's Plan to Help Homeowners
Senator Praises President’s Efforts to Help Responsible Homeowners Refinance
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) issued the following statement today on President Obama’s announcement of new efforts to address the nation’s housing crisis and help responsible homeowners save thousands of dollars a year and avoid foreclosure by refinancing at today’s low interest rates.
“The President understands clearly that for the economy to recover fully, the housing crisis must be resolved. The President has laid out specific proposals that include helping homeowners refinance at today’s low rates. I applaud that and will continue working with Senator Isakson on ways to accomplish it.”
Senator Boxer and Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA) have been leading calls for the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to help more homeowners refinance, and are the authors of the bipartisan Helping Responsible Homeowners Act.
