Boxer Lauds Clean-Energy Transit Funds for California
Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) today lauded the Obama Administration’s announcement that nearly $17.5 million is headed to California to advance new clean-energy technologies in transit systems.
This funding is part of $100 million in grants included in the economic recovery package for clean-energy transit technologies throughout the nation.
Senator Boxer said, “These critical investments will create jobs in California, reduce greenhouse gas pollution and help our transit systems lead the way toward a clean-energy future.”
Install multiple photovoltaic solar modules to generate renewable electricity.
City of Santa Clarita, Transit Maintenance Facility
Add solar modules to generate electricity to offset power used at the maintenance facility
Los Angeles County Metropolitan Trans. Authority
Install wayside energy storage substation to capture and store energy to transfer that same energy back to the same train or another train to reduce energy demand and peak power requirements.
Install solar modules at a variety of facilities.
