Boxer Secures Funding for Central Valley
Washington, DC– Yesterday, the U.S. Senate passed an omnibus appropriations bill that includes funding requested by U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) for key initiatives in California’s Central Valley.
The omnibus passed the Senate by a vote of 57 to 35 and now goes to President Obama for his signature.
The following are investments secured by Senator Boxer for the Central Valley:
144th Squadron Operations Facility, Fresno Yosemite International Air National Guard Base
Recipient: U.S. Army National Guard
Amount: $9,800,000
This funding will be used to replace the current 144th Fighter Wing Squadron Operations Facility at Fresno Yosemite International Air National Guard Base. The squadron currently operates across several outdated facilities that are not sufficient for modern day operations. The new facility will ultimately be used to house F-15C “Eagle” aircraft squadron operations. F-15Cs are expected to arrive at the base in 2012 to replace the aging F-16C fleet. The 144th Fighter Wing provides air defense for California from Oregon to the Mexican border and is vital to the nation’s security.

Operation Peacekeepers
Location: Stockton, California
Amount: $200,000
Funding will support pay for youth gang outreach workers and provide for education tuition and supplies, tutoring, GED testing, and support safe, alternative activities for teens.

Fresno County Regional Data Interoperability
Location: Fresno County, California
Amount: $300,000
This funding will complete the network to connect all major police, fire and emergency services in Fresno County through a common dispatch. The network also allows localities to share information.

Kaweah Delta Asthma Outreach Project
Location: Visalia, California
Amount: $100,000
Funding will be used for the Kaweah Delta Health Care District to implement a comprehensive outreach program to increase awareness in rural communities about asthma, which could help reduce emergency room visits and hospitalizations.

City of Dinuba CNG Fueling Station Expansion
Location: Dinuba, California
Amount: $779,200
Funding will be used to expand the CNG Fueling Station to meet the growing demand for alternative, low emission fuel in Tulare County.
