Boxer Secures Funding for Northern California
Washington, DC– Yesterday, the U.S. Senate passed an omnibus appropriations bill that includes funding requested by U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) for key initiatives in Northern California.
The omnibus passed the Senate by a vote of 57 to 35 and now goes to President Obama for his signature.
The following are investments secured by Senator Boxer for Butte and Mendocino Counties:
Forest Highway 171 Widening
Recipient: Butte County Association of Governments (BCAG)
Amount: $2,450,000
Funding will be used to widen and pave Forest Highway 171. During area wildfires, the road’s quality inhibited emergency crews’ response times. Upon completion of this project, emergency response times should be cut in half.

Butte County Literacy is for Everyone (LIFE) Program
Location: Oroville, California
Amount: $150,000
Funding will be used to increase literacy among adults and at-risk children in Butte County.

Public Microwave System
Recipient: Mendocino County
Location: Mendocino County, California
Amount: $250,000
Funding will be used to increase capabilities of public safety radio where coverage is currently sparse in the outlying areas of Covelo and Laytonville.
